We measure the room, not the people. This page explains what data we handle, where it is hosted and how to reach us about it.

Who we are

ZapIQ Europe is operated by Updal Solutions AB, Instrumentvägen 12A, 194 51 Upplands Väsby, Sweden. Updal Solutions AB is the data controller for this website and for the personal data described on this page.

If you have questions about this policy or about your data, please use the contact form on our contact page. We answer every request.

What we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum and only collect what is needed to run the site and deliver the service.

  • Contact and quote forms: the name, email address, organisation and message you choose to send us, so we can reply.
  • Website usage: with your consent, Google Analytics collects anonymised statistics about which pages are visited. Without consent, no analytics cookies are set.
  • Sensor data: our sensors measure temperature and humidity, with air quality and CO₂ as options. No cameras, no microphones, no movement tracking — we measure the room, not the people.
  • Customer accounts: administrators of housing-provider dashboards have a user account with their email address and role.

Where your data is hosted

All sensor and platform data is hosted within the European Union, on European infrastructure. We do not transfer sensor data outside the EU.

Website analytics are processed by Google Ireland Ltd. and may involve transfers outside the EU. Analytics only runs if you have accepted it in the cookie banner, and IP addresses are anonymised.

A data processing agreement for housing companies

When a housing provider uses ZapIQ to monitor its buildings, the provider is the data controller and ZapIQ Europe acts as a data processor. We offer a data processing agreement (DPA) to every housing company that needs one.

The DPA covers the purpose and duration of the processing, the categories of data, security measures, sub-processors, and your rights as controller. Request it through our contact form and we will send it over — no obligation attached.

How we use the data

Sensor readings are used for one purpose: to spot damp and mould risk early and plan the right repair. Readings are not used to monitor how people live, and no data is sold or used for advertising.

Contact form messages are used only to answer your question or prepare your quote.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected: contact form messages as long as the conversation requires, and sensor data for as long as the customer's subscription runs, unless another retention period has been agreed.

Your cookie choice is stored locally in your browser for 180 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. You can also withdraw your cookie consent at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

To exercise any right, contact us through the contact form. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
